Nothing else matters if you have the resolve to become a good developer. However, doing things right from the start will reduce the amount of time you are going to spend wallowing through the abyss of unending video tutorials and other programming content.
Here are five things you must do to avoid this.
Do one Thing at a Time: It is easy to be lost in the heap of information available on the web. without a proper roadmap, you will realize that you are really getting nowhere. Instead of trying to learn everything at once, pick a programming language that is easy to learn and stick with it until you are proficient. Python can be a good start. better still, HTML and CSS. it all depends on your preference. Do not just learn more than one thing at a time.
Avoid Quick Fixes: If coding was easy, there would be so many programmers that computer programming may no longer be as salable as it is. Developers are in large demand. but there is no shortcut to being a good developer other than the 'hard route' of starting from scratch and building your way up. it gets easier as you grow. Pay no attention to 'scammers' that promise to wave a wand and turn you into a sought-after developer in a few weeks.
Identify With Other Developers: There are so many online communities and forums that will play a role in shaping your career path. So much to learn. some of those that come to mind right now include StackOverflow, Reddit, Github, etc.
Seek Mentorship: As a beginner, You do not want to waste your time on things that will not be valuable in your chosen career path or to learn by trial-and-error. Find someone that will guide you every step of the way and provide you with valuable advice and insight into your progress. This will drastically shorten your learning curve and increase your chances of landing your first job as a developer.
Build Projects: Lastly, build tons of Projects as you learn. And ensure you are pushing them to a public domain like Github. what's makes a good developer is hands-on experience. what could be more pleasing to a potential employer than proving that you can not only code but can design and build an application.
